Work on Purpose

Working on Purpose

They say a plane flying from New York to London is off course most of the flight. Yet those passengers always seem to arrive. Why is that? They have a clear direction and are constantly re-orienting to their intended destination.

Without a clear sense of purpose, a clear sense of direction in life and work, we get profoundly lost and frustrated. The first step in making work meaningful, is to set a clear direction - this is called a purpose. Once that purpose is set, work can become an adventurous journey, rather than a tedious burden.

Through live and virtual workshops, as well as individualized coaching, you and your team can get clear on your purpose and start moving in the right direction.

Workshops offered

Motivational Interviewing: Behavior change is difficult, just ask anyone who has ever tried to change an unhealthy habit. Motivational Interviewing is a way of interacting with people that gets to the heart of this difficulty. It helps us identify and resolve barriers while drawing our own intrinsic motivation to make these difficult changes.

  • Working on purpose: Simply showing up to work each day and going through the motions leads to burnout and frustration. Support your team in uncovering their core values so that work becomes deeply meaningful.

  • Working through stress: The only thing that is for certain in these times is uncertainty, and that leads to anxiety and stress. Learn to work with the stress that arrises with uncertainty, so that you and your team can focus on what is most meaningful.

  • Tailored offerings: Various needs arise to meet the demands of your work. Let me know what your team is needing and I will offer a tailor-made workshop.

Coaching

Workshops are key for helping folks gain knowledge, insights, and inspiration. To transfer knowledge into practice however, only coaching will do.

To transfer knowledge into practice, I help to:

  • identify incremental improvements that add value to one’s work and life

  • break down those improvements to actionable skills

  • provide specific and positive feedback

  • repeat until the skills become second nature

I offer coaching in Motivational Interviewing (and other evidence-based practices for working with clients), value-driven behavior change, and effective communication skills.
